Technology Includes:

  • Stabilising and strengthening mineral deposits such as chalk and sandstone using selective mineralisation (patent pending - UK Patent Application Number 1914405.4, and PCT Application number PCT/GB2020/052398)

  • Controlled ion release glass powders for anti-microbial applications

  • Bioactive materials which attach to tissues and bone to promote healing and resist infection

We have developed a suite of carrier glasses tailored to the environment in which they will be deployed, to cope with demands of pH, temperature, and surrounding fluids. These base glass compositions containing phosphorous, sodium, calcium amongst other elements are combined with specific ions that give the glass its functionality.

The carrier glass can be modified to control dissolution time from less than an hour to many months depending on how long the ion release is desired.

The nature of glass enables it to be formed into designed shapes such as microspheres, flakes, fibres or granules. These shapes can be used to control packing density and flow characteristics or add an additional level of control over dissolution behaviour.
